Rating Curve

Despite a lot of the bad that came from 2.0’s drastic shift in artstyle, this kind of style actally got better with the new tilesets. It leads to a more chaotic and animated approach while still maintaining the abstraction that GD’s older tilesets excel at. This level’s no fexty or effot, but this is a damn good showing of ozpectro’s style, and I’d say it deserves a bit more love.

Really cool exploration of a few branches of science. It reminds me of those big non-fiction books I would get at book fairs that talked about a billion different quirky science facts, with crazy visuals to boot. Really nice work even if it has aged poorly.

I love the use of rainbow decorations alongside primarily red structures. Creators usually do rainbow only stuff or will incorporate white/black/blue backgrounds alongside rainbow decoration, so it's really refreshing to see a primarily red color have some rainbow accents. It makes it a bit disappointing when it drops that red accent and just sticks to rainbow only, which I noticed in wonduu's last part. That being said, KiwiPenguin also falters a bit on their last part, a bit out of left field and a bit too different from the rest of the level.

Very dense and hard to look at, but I think it works in this level's favor- it gives me notebook scrawlings vibes, just pure stream of consiousness. My main complaint is that this feels a bit inauthentic. I feel like we're not looking into someone's "dark and fucked up thoughts", we're going through someone's imagination of what those "dark and fucked up thoughts" would look like to someone. As a result, it can come off as a bit fake and more polished than it should be. This occupies a similar space to 2003devin's work although I feel like devin is a lot more true to the heart if that makes sense.
