Aside from Scrumpy's part this is probably one of the most visually consistent megacollabs ever made. If you removed any mention of the creators' names you could reasonably pass this off as a solo level and I wouldn't notice.
lucasyecla99 used to blow my socks off with their work- everything they worked on from Ocular Miracle, to Molten Gear, to Deception Dive- it used to be all peak in my mind, before they started to age really poorly. It's quite a shame that they never really released a lot of solo work, because I think that unlike their megacollab parts, there's a lot more exploration of their style in a level like this, where there's the ability to create progression and develop the style naturally over time. And develop they do! It's awesome to see the level get gradually more frantic, as more color and details are piled on, and while it isn't done in the most elegant way, I think its for the best. That, combined with the heart-pounding music, makes this such an exhilarating ride.
That being said, there's a reason why levels like this don't exist today. Not just because it's a very ambitious style, hundreds of thousands of objects worth of ambition, but because it's really messy- the clarity is just not here in this level, and there's such a mismatch in detail during the drop that it feels a bit comical.
Pretty good, but I cannot tell what the fuck is even going on here, even moreso than levels like Killbot or Nightshade. I do really like the predrop parts though, especially how gritty they look with the 2.1 tilesets; I usually despise them but I think they work pretty well here.
