It's very rare to see a unique and visually pleasing Nine Circles style level. However, Ring Trick is exactly that. I takes the idea of a Nine Circles level and interprets it in a very interesting and refreshing way, which results in one of the best visual representations of said style. I love what Zoroa came up with, especially because the gameplay is great as well, which isn't anything you should take for granted, as sometimes levels with amazing visuals make the sacrifice of caring less about the gameplay. This wasn't the case in this level at all which makes me enjoy it even more. Definitely recommended to anyone who is skilled enough to beat this!!
I will admit the decoration isn't anything groundbreaking, and the gameplay does have its flaws like some bugs and inconsistencies, but I still really really enjoyed my time with this level. The visuals are really cool, and they give off the intended energy super well, in my opinion. The gameplay, while being a tad inconsistent and weirdly put together, flows really well, and it's super satisfying to pull off. Especially the second half of the level is incredibly fun, and very easy as well. Overall, I can for sure recommend this level, as long as you are willing to practice the inconsistent and unbalanced parts for a while.
I really love how many bangers we got for the Space Gauntlet Contest, with Cosmic Crush being another incredibly high quality entry. The quality of the artworks within the level is super high, and the neat structure designs work as a really well addition to the great backgrounds. This, together with the very smooth animations and vibrant colors makes for an increadibly satisfying playing experience. I can highly recommend this level to anyone; it's for sure one of the best entries in this years contest.
I really wanted to like this as much as other people do.....
The visuals are really neat, and I liked the theming a lot as well, but the gameplay quite literally took all the fun I had with the level. I really dislike levels that feel like glorified Auto Levels, where you basically do nothing for the majority of the level, with the exception of one or two sections. This, together with very janky camera controls and very confusing player movements that punish you in the rare instances of actual gameplay being present, made this really unenjoyable for me, sadly.
I really wish I could enjoy this more than I did, because the level is very nicely put together in it's core, just suffers from poor gameplay decisions and janky camera controls for me.
Really enjoyable level to complete, but nothing groundbreaking or too interesting visually, sadly. I love how it doesn't take itself seriously at all, and the theme it's going for is really cool, even if it's a executed a bit too minimalistic for my liking in parts. Overall, still a really neat project that's worth checking out.
