Learny and weird, even by Loltad’s famously high standards. Overpracticing is necessary to determine which part is randomly the hardest for you. It’s like a Buzzfeed quiz; we can determine which character from Friends you are based on what part you find the hardest. If it’s the 70s robot, you’re Joey! The theming is done in a creative way, using bleached colors to sell the atmosphere of an alien world more convincingly, and I think it works!
I love LazerBlitz clones as it is (see: The Blitzless) and this level is certainly no exception. The gameplay is is a little bit infused with The Horrors, with some random bugs that define a lot of it's difficulty, but I seriously don't care this level is both hard as fuck and Hard As Fuck. Definition of failing upwards, I love this level. 7/10 because it does indeed suck but I don’t care it’s too fun.
I originally beat this level eons ago and had a pretty rough time with it due to its insane frontloaded balancing, crappy transitions, and immense lag. Randomly out of the blue shortly after completing it, I got a DM from LP44 asking me what exactly the problems with the level were, before being invited on board to be a part of his playtesting team. From there, I was offered an opportunity to verify an update to this level that included some major bugfixes, gameplay improvements, visual bugfixes, and most importantly a mocking death screen at the end for all the casualties of Not Finishing The Practice Run Syndrome. Now I think the level is rather enjoyable, despite putting 0 dent in the balancing issue. The gameplay is
WEIRD
but oddly satisfying. It sucks that I wasn't able to change the balancing at all because that's holding it back a lot for me. Its a little sad when a level with this many weird ideas gets dragged by it's immense chokepoints (those being the high CPS waves and epileptic part) but what can you do, I still had fun overall. 7/10
It has numerous issues and bad transitions and jank and it’s just very frustrating. That being said, once learning all said and done and you start getting consistent, holy crap this is a blast to play. The chaotic nature of genuine 1.9 nonsense adds so much atmosphere to otherwise annoying levels and really boosts them. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a higher end Hard Demon memory level. 7/10
It’s iconic for all the right reasons but it hardly does anything to stand out and it quickly became overshadowed by similar levels in terms of gameplay quality, such as Coarse and Shambolic. Holds up quite well on its own but it’s nothing more than a bucket list item. 7/10
