Gameplay was not it then and isn't it now. I surprisingly didn't have too bad of a time with this level when I eventually got to it in the gauntlet but I wouldn't say I enjoyed it too much. AbstractDark's designs past 2.0 have always been interesting in that they've been very inconsistent where you'll have creations such as his part in "Point Zero" that are mad out of place or he can pop off with something like "Seasonal Haven". This one while it has a few cool ideas I don't think has aged that well. Black hole part is cool
I think the space gauntlet has truly help me describe my gripes as 2.2 continues it's stay and that's the fact that while it was inevitable it feels like everything is changing so quickly without it feeling like I'm getting much substance in the process. Levels continue to look cooler (like I can't deny the skill ppl like bli have for example I gotta give bro credit) but I end up forgetting about most of these levels 5 minutes after. I've always been more of a fan of minimalist approaches anyways but that's besides the point. The attention to detail in this is absolutely incredible. If you don't want to keep playing it watch a video showcasing it and look at all the stuff you didn't see on your first playthrough. While I obviously appreciate this game for letting people really do whatever they feel like I further appreciate the thematical lengths people are willing to take with their levels; I really hope this at the very least gets top 3
I suck mad ass at the game (imo) so when this first released I struggled a lot to play it; end up really enjoying it though. It's genuinely so nice to see how Xiron's progressed as a creator coming from "prominence" to this to "two steps back" so on and so forth. During the making of this level he took a big break from creating; he ended up coming back even better than ever.
This level (as well as a few others) to me has shown the divide within the community especially since late 2.1 on how people compare levels. I'll be honest I appreciate "it back" by HangyKing for it's uniqueness but I feel like some parts of the community treat uniqueness as the sole benefactor of a good level. I've seen this level called slop, I've seen this level called boring, I've seen a lot of disses for a level (and creator) who/that I think has really held a torch for modern creators in the late 2.1 era. Gameplay especially the 2nd half is mad frustrating so I gotta knock it down points there but dont sleep on this one.
