you can very clearly see MannyHeffley's improvement at writing and theming with this level. while i don't think the poem in the level is presented or paced very well, i still very much respect writing something specifically for a level's theme and integrating it with the level. it makes the level that much more, well,.... ... Menacing , lol,..,, ,hhaha.,
on top of that i believe this is the only current list demon to use an originally composed song? which alone in my mind makes it one of the few list demons actually worthy of being on the list. this level has a reason to be difficult; it has the aura and the background to back up its position.
i also like seeing MannyHeffley's experimental gp still make an appearance even in a level specifically designed to be one of the hardest in the game - i really enjoy his commitment to finding just what exactly makes a level hard, so to speak. turns out you can do a lot more with executional difficulty than tight gaps, and this level very much proves it; i hope future list demons take this as an inspiration
the theming here is definitely much weaker than Menace's; it becomes very apparent quite fast how little there is to do here and the whole level ends up looking like one congealed purple and yellow blob. what's here is nice, but i would've liked to see something fun done with it over plain repetition.
huge respect as always to MannyHeffley for making an original song to this level, aswell as verifying it to tie up the knot and make this level a true solo. i have insane amounts of respect for people who manage this like LunarSIMG and i'm glad to see someone else try their hand at it!
i don't.. like the song particularly much. it's incredibly rough at times and doesn't seem to know what to do other than put some trumpets and wacky bass over a drum loop, but i like seeing gd originals anyways
can't comment on gameplay since this is quite far above my skill level, but it looks like a pretty nice refinement of MannyHeffley's typical gimmicky gp style he's become known for
really neat effects that make me nostalgic for a time when every popular creator's styles converged to something like this but the theming comes off as incredibly shallow and even a little funny at times. which is unfortunate because it could've been a lot more than just listing off mental illnesses and medications
mannyheffley's typical wacky gp shines through here too, but i feel like outside of being wacky it's not actually that great to play. it got tiring very quickly for me and as much as i would've liked to enjoy it it just became tedious to execute
i like the motion and design work in this as much as the next person but i wish what made the last few parts unique could be extended to the rest to add more theming and value to the other parts. i'm sure x1ron is capable of it, they just preferred to use the full runtime of the song rather than make full use of the song which i guess is a respectable decision
if you asked me a couple of years ago to rate this level it'd be a 10, but i've since started to see so much less value in highly derivative works like this. it's still very well made and its interpretations are neat, but it could not stand on its own as a level seperate from the game
