I genuinely wish I could make any form of art that portraits my feelings as well as this level portraits Denis's. Genuinely 10/10 song representation
Genuinely one of the only rated levels I can think of that deserve a 1/10
peak xStep remake fr fr, the gameplay is so fun and ACTUALLY introduces the blue pad well!!
Review from the creator of the level itself... I think for what it is I still like this!
At the time this was my first finished level after being stuck in an unfinished projects spiral for 2 entire years. By overthinking less, I actually had some very fun time and managed to finish this level in about 3 days!
As for the level itself, I think some parts definitely look rough around the edges, especially the cutscene, as well as the last part, which doesn't look bad, but it has a drastic change of deco style that could be better worked. This level still holds a lot of charm, in my opinion, and the gameplay is decently fun for the time!
Controversially, I don't enjoy this level as much. It's an okay level, but it's not any masterpiece.
Firstly, I think this level tries to be too many things at once. It tries to be an art level, but also a flashy effect level, but also an homage to Kira's favourite entries in the Space Gauntlet CC, and it just doesn't work for me. It tries to be contextualized as an emulation, but I don't buy it.
Gameplay wise, it's perfectly playable, but nothing to write home about.
The real hit or miss thing about this level, though, comes with the decoration. I think Kira's flashy style is too overblown here. It worked fine for Wannacry, since the theming of that level allowed for such type of decoration and pulses, but here is just too much for me. Even the parts I like, mainly the 3D ship part where you avoid the meteors, have too much going on.
Minimalist & old school designs taken into the furthest I've seen in the entire contest! In a time where levels get increasingly bombastic and hyperstimulating, it's really refreshing to see a level like this being appreciated <3
My favourite level of all time. There, I said it.
There's so much you can say about this level...
The background, which is just a big gradient that, because the gameplay is mainly big robot jumps, changes smoothly even without moving;
The fact that every single section, while having extremely simple designs, looks entirely different and plays differently from each other;
the cute little antteni on the robot;
the gameplay actually being decently unique for a robot-focused level;
the worldbuilding just being... really good????
Don't have much to say, really. I come back to this every so often, and it's just so so cool.
Fantastic level! I really like how lively this level feels, even if some of the easter eggs are a bit corny.
Regardless, I think Vegtam did a pretty good job with the visual style of the level, especially when considering most of the characters are OCs! Just shows the dedication (maybe over-dedication...) behind this level, and I appreciate it. I really enjoy this comic book style, previously explored in levels like Next Cab Soon and Cosmic Crush, and it complements pretty well the silly story it tells.
The gameplay is alright for what it is. Maybe it's a bit too forgiving on the player, but, on the other hand, I kind of enjoy how it lets the player mess around as the level goes. Also, maybe a missed opportunity for a coin by scoring S on the rhythm game dual part? Just something to consider :p
Overall, despite being heavily controversial, I think it was a deserving winner for this Gauntlet Contest, and I think it's a ton of fun :D
Somehow I one-attempted this one. It's decently fun, and pretty goofy! Complements the silly song pretty well. I can safely say that I enjoyed it :)
