Black Blizzard is a very impactful level by Krazyman50. I think the visuals outshine the gameplay by a mile on this one, since:

-The first half has to be the greatest brick wall to ever exist

0-25 is its own can of worms, as it is basically infamous at this point for how difficult it is. some of the inputs are brutal while some others are basically luck. As i was getting closer to beating the level, i was getting slightly more consistent at the first 25%, and i would get past it every like 25 attempts or so. But then there's another can of worms ahead.

25-40 has blocked me from beating the level for SO long it is actually insane. literally every single orb combo is only survivable through flawless alignment. and even then, even if you learn the ideal click pattern for you, the level will just reject your attempt sometimes and go "nuh uh! you can't pass because you had a poorly aligned click 5 clicks ago" it is RIDICULOUS.

Do you wanna know how many times i died between 37 and 38% combined? 68 TIMES. That's how bad it is.

40-50 isn't bad, but it is a very real possibility to die to clicks you never thought you can die to before, especially with the nerves accumulated once you get past 25-40. Its pretty annoying.

-Now, for the second half, it is so free in comparison that it's actually disrespectful.

50-62 is rather easy, shouldn't be a big concern.

The dual is interesting. it's not very hard by any means, even the ship-ball gap isn't bad. But the sheer awkwardness of the gameplay combined with nervous hands holding on to dear life have made me die quite a lot there. Roughly around 11 times.

the last cube at 80 is nothing too noteworthy, but i died there 3 times due to me forgetting how to use my fingers (shoutout nerve control)

The ending from around 87-100 has to be the most powerful and climactic end that this level can have. The calm after the storm (or in this case the blizzard) with the tight gaps and the slow ship/wave maneuver make your heart race so bad that you start to hear the heartbeats. The amount of panic i get when i'm there is wild. but it's justified, especially when i got past all the slot machines found earlier in the level.

As for the decoration, i beat it with LDM enabled. But, in full detail, it is stellar.

The level starts off calm, with clear hints to the theme and an intro that stretches out a bit. the lack of a background and the simple bd with nice slope shapes nicely sells that vibe. The level gets you used to the relaxed energy and lets you enjoy the calm until it throws you right into the buildup where the blizzard is clearly about to go unhinged, and the colors get brighter to indicate the increase in energy. the block design is uniquely textured here with odd yet cool effects that make it more iconic.

Then, the drop kicks in and it is UNHINGED. You are caught up in a super intense natural disaster and you can't see shit. and that's BEAUTIFUL. All sorts of absurd things are happening in the background and foreground and the poor player is just caught up in the mess. It stays like that with a dark color scheme until the dual kicks in where a lot of bright colors and shapes start flashing to highlight the part as the peak of the storm, it's just flashbanging you mercilessly without a break as the natural disaster cooks you. the end is a great calm after the storm.

Buttery smooth level from the start to the very end. The color choices are on point, with a childlike sense of joy and a clear understanding of color theory as well as contrast. The visuals are impressive with very interesting design choices and somewhat simple backgrounds that don't distract the player from the gameplay and the viewer from the designs. My favorite parts are undeniably Wiktord, Kitzsune and Bloomng for how the composition feels effortlessly laid out with so much confidence. The gameplay is nice, flowy and engaging despite the level being on the easier side. The predrop is a tiny bit awkward but nothing else to nitpick. Gorgeous level and easily one of my favorite modern levels from the late 2.1 era. Wish i can see more like this in 2.2.
