Sure, if you go and watch a completion of the level it doesn't look all that special; it's just an early 2.1 megacollab with a lot of glow. While there are some parts I find visually interesting, overall, a lot of the parts don't fit well together and it's quite messy. In those aspects alone this level falls a bit short, and a bit of a missed opportunity to better represent and amazing and iconic song like freedom dive.
The reason my score is as high as it is, is 100% because of the gameplay. When i first picked up this level I fell in love with how enjoyable this level was to learn and get runs on: sort of like zodiac if it didn't have a bunch of extremely dumb choke points. Minus a few minor bugs (which is why gameplay rating is at a 9), this level pulls of extremely fun and consistent fast paced gameplay that does manage to represent the song very well. Overall i'll give Freedom08 an 8/10 just because of how fun the experience is over the decoration.
I love the energy that this level brings in places such as the drop as well as the overall atmosphere. Unfortunately, the overall readability and structure of the gameplay needs some work. There are a lot of sections where the visuals get very much in the way of the gameplay, and other times where its difficult to tell where you are supposed to go or what you have to do. There's a lot of awkwardness to the gameplay that just makes it hard to enjoy (interesting mechanics just executed poorly).
I have such a bias for XXL levels but even with saying that this level is a masterpiece. Cometface manages to release so many bangers and I cant get enough of their levels, especially this one. The song is utilized in such creative ways throughout the level and it really amazes me how well it fits into each part. Well Rested is a really cozy and immersive experience with some of the cleanest looking design that I've ever seen, as well as having very fun gameplay 10/10 ^^
For rob to give an experimental level legendary it really shows the magic that rply has managed to sprinkle into his work. Commatose is one of a kind and is definitely one of my favorite levels in the whole game; I will die on the hill of saying it is one of the best works of art in geometry dash history. Song representation means so much to me in a level, it is really that underappreciated aspect that gives you goosebumps when executed perfectly. This level represents its song in a way that no other level has ever managed to do, taking experimental ideas that really make this journey of a level special. If I could give the visuals an 11/10 I would, they are absolutely stunning; often, there were parts that I had audible reactions to due to just how amazingly they were executed. The gameplay is also executed extremely well adding to the immersion you already feel playing this; even in 'break sections' I still feel so engaged to the story that it tells.
I could blab on and on about this level for hours but I'll save the time. Masterful work and the most deserved perfect score in my opinion. <3
