Don't mind me. Just trying to subside the things that happened in these forums with something that can allow us to move on.
Just list down your Top 3 favorite levels in the game and then the next person that replies has the ability to judge your Top 3. Once they've done so, they then share their own Top 3, and the cycle repeats. Basically the "judge the above user's taste" but catered to 3 of their favorite levels only.
Edit: In compliance with what Disp said, I do encourage y'all to go ahead and watch the level if its a level that you have not seen before. Like a first impressions type of opinion of a level you are unaware about. That way there is something other than just an "I don't know" moment.
- Mizu 水 / CJ
Right... my Top 3.
Aperture - Chunlv1, Reunomi, matty2003 & co.
Well Rested - cometface
CasteMania - Serponge & co.
- Mizu 水 / CJ
Aperture - Easily one of the most visually appealing levels in the game, but the gameplay falls flat in some areas.
Well Rested - Amazing song representation and design style, if only the gameplay didn't feel like a slog.
Castlemania - Very fun to explore all the different paths with or without a guide. I don't think it should've been in a gauntlet.
My top 3:
Experiment by mbed & more
Extreme Park by Rabbitical
Clubstep by RobTop
idkidk please actually watch videos of the first 2 your comment is pretty useless atm
5857 (Pronounced 5, 8, 5, 7)
i haven't played the top 2 so i cannot judge. clubstep is a decent level but i think there are a lot better levels out there
my top 3:
1 - prismatic haze
2 - the hills have eyes
3 - city rush
Prismatic Haze - Forgettable generic flowglow that falls out of your head immediately after watching it. Get out of here
The Hills Have Eyes - The best Overdefo level. Granted, if you know me, I don't think that's a super high standard, but I digress. There are some really neat designs throughout this. Still some issues with the sync and the progression feeling pretty weak (that's mainly on the song, but it still feels like it's missing somehow), but I don't dislike it
City Rush - Why? I don't really feel much looking at this, my only comments are that the sync is lackluster in some parts and that a lot of the concepts in this have been done better elsewhere. Gameplay is generic.
My top 3:
Y2P by Drakoska and more
Unnerfed Yatagarasu by Riot and more
Sonic Wave by Cyclic
calling something forgettable and generic and then matter-of-factly naming sonic wave and yatagarasu is insane aura and also fucking deranged
never gonna play y2p but its decently charming. there are some fun gags here and there but too much exasperation-esque distortion gameplay. the novelty has worn off man
yata and sonic wave: dude are you taking the piss. a pair of worthless, derivative top 1s that are rightfully in the process of being forgotten by the wider community. play or watch, doesn't matter. nothing will register, especially not for sonic wave, a level that lifts everything worthwhile from an older and better level and is notable only for how unbearable the song is. yata is at least fun to throw attempts at sometimes.
conchetumare x, lit fuse, sculptures
conchetumare x - never heard of this ever what??????????? what is this
lit fuse - yeah no. i think its not that good of a level and im probably biased bc i dont like/care for krmal levels that much
sculptures - havent heard of this either
my top 3:
The Golden
Bloodlust
Yatagarasu
if you are going to respond to the thread at least do the bare minimum of watching videos of the levels mentioned above, not a single soul wants to see you going "idk :)" on two out of three submissions, watching these would haven taken you 5 minutes at most
The Golden - a tiny bit more interesting than your average top 1 extreme demon, which isn't really an indication of its excellence, more so a proof of abysmal track record when it comes down to top 1 extremes quality-wise. the level is messy, it's hard to see any design work because, just like many other demons around that time, it suffers from a problem of making everything too dark for the sake of enhancing its "atmosphere". there are a couple of parts that I kinda like, but that's about it.
Bloodlust - thought the level was pretty fine up until a rewatch a moment ago, feel like it aged worse than I remember. still probably one of the better designed red hell themed top extremes (which, again, isn't saying much). the art is all over the place: there are various death moon-inspired pentagrams, skulls and then there's that wonky boss, pixel moon that conflicts with core artstyle and edgy lapras for 0 reason, I find all that a bit charming in a "none of these people knew what they were actually doing" kind of way
Yatagarasu - wasn't huge on the level when it came out and still not very big on it, the main issue being that the level bores me a lot. some parts individually look fine and that's as far as it goes.
bonus levels since temp2st got robbed of proper opinions:
Conchetumare x - when it was rated i thought the level was just passable, but it has grown on me over time. there's a lot of very unique visual and gameplay ideas, it's very fun to play and I really like the song. quite easily my favorite nacho21 level
Sculptures - very impressively designed, but just isn't really my thing, can't really even say why. i really like some other levels by flash though, such as dizzying heights, i just don't why sculptures in particular doesn't click with me.
my levels:
Mystic Bounds by gmdmann
Geometrical Insanity by TheDevon
Dead God Cult by Soverney
Mystic Bounds: I love gmdmann's song choice here. The colors are just pure eye candy, especially around 2 minutes in and I love how each part feels different for the entire five minutes. As with most long levels I dont think I can give my true opinion untiil I beat it but literally everyone I know who beat this level found its gameplay phenomenal.
Geometrical Insanity: I dont really care for it since imo most of it doesn't expand on geo demoinator in a way that interests me but the part at 66 is amazing. I love how it uses more complex 2.0 designs for that part.
Dead God Cult: Honestly as a geometry dash level I don't like it that much but considering there are creators with no external game dev aspirations making these originals in game I wouldn't give them slack for it. I find it really cool he made the OST for this and I jsut adore deck builders like these. I really hope he creates an actual game with these skills
My top 3: (SM and VR for gp mainly, REDEEMER for deco)
Scream Machine by TMCo
REDEEMER by hhxa
Visible Ray by krampux
I haven't played, let alone beaten any of these levels, so I'll be writing based on visuals only
Scream Machine by TMCo: Really, really love the many many callbacks to horror media in this level. Rather nostalgic in that sense whenever I can recognise something as a reference. Even for the parts that I don't theyre almost always something rarely done in levels in general. Not really any standout parts in this one as theyre all very consistently great despite a good amount of deco repetition. Unfortunately as a result of this homogeny in quality and style it does feel like it drags on for a bit too long especially since the song does drag on too [8]
REDEEMER by hhxa23: Usually not a fan of hazy visuals but I think they're generally done well here. Not even the best part of this level though, that goes to how well the end is considering there is this enormous buildup across the entire level that only releases at the last 10% [10]
Visible Ray by krampux: Old megacollab that holds up quite well today. Obvious issues with cohesion and deco quality consistency but it's not as bad as it could be. The more colourful and dynamic parts are pretty good in general [6]
