I didn't get to live early 2.1 as a creator but I did as a player, and I think this level brings a good testament to that era pretty well. There are some quirks and tropes that were frequent back then (like the saws with eyes or faces inside the block designs) combined with the newer update features that bring a new life to it.
It's not technically perfect but it's a great throwback to, well, much simpler times.
I was originally gonna give this a 5 but the amount of very annoying bugs made me take away a point :( I can't tell if they're intentional or not though.
If I were to build a level to a Cacola song the last thing I would do is use a neodesign starter pack for the whole thing.
Seriously, this level highly misses the mark for me. The buildup is really good admittedly, I find the designs to be great looking and I love the flow it has going up and down and changing scenes seamlessly. But that drop is absolutely unforgivable. It feels like it's trying to copy the best elements of neodesign / experimental classics but doesn't know why they're good.
Representing the chaos in the song using rapid flashes and standard gameplay is really not the way to go. I wish I could understand the appeal this level has on people but other than the first half I really don't.
unfortunately it's goated
the best xender level
