Absolutely INSANELY well made level for its time. Minecraft by DimusLV is the creator's first and last full level on their account which even to this day shines above other levels due to it's insanely technically well made decoration. Minecraft uses parallax to its absolute maximum to create a 3D environment in front of and behind your icon, done so seamlessly 98% of players couldn't even begin to fathom how it was done. While the parallax alone is very impressive, the way DimusLV uses it to create a beautifully made environment is honestly unthinkable for its time. Using a variety of objects to create see through leaves, mobs that interact with the environment, and beautiful layering in general in places like the cave section. Even if the gameplay isn't much to write home about due to it being relatively slow, it still becomes super enjoyable due to it's slow paced nature allowing you to explore each environment!! There are times when the background can be very empty in places like the overworld, nether, and the weird auto transition, but it all can be basically forgotten about with how much depth there is to this level.

Now this level while being pretty technically impressive for 2.1 standards, might not seem like the most revolutionary thing ever, especially as of late 2.1. However, this came out in 2018. 2018. Only a month after stuff like Boss 3 Electro. This level of technicality with triggers is absolutely fucking unthinkable for this time, and for being their first FULL level?? I legitimately think Dimus could have become an extremely notable creator had they created more levels past this. They still occasionally play the game after 2.2 released, but they haven't released any new levels since Minecraft.

My favorite part of this level however, is how DimusLV created it. Dimus actually released another video after releasing Minecraft to the public, where they show you how to create a 3D level just like they did! I LOVE when creators aren't afraid to show off their techniques, and Dimus did it in such an awesome way that I can't help but appreciate this guy for his transparency. My actual favorite part about this, is that he genuinely used MINECRAFT to make it. Every block you see in the level, was placed by hand in a minecraft world in slices, and was built into the level. After he did that, he did a ton of manual trigger work (which is tedious as HELL) to make this absolutely insane level. I love it so much like what the hell this is AWESOME

Minecraft is overall an absolute technical masterpiece for it's time and despite having 2.4 million downloads, is SHOCKINGLY forgotten about. I was able to bring it back to light with a tweet but it's crazy how many people completely forgot about this level. It's always stuck in the back of mind ever since I would constantly request it and Defy (effect layout) to random level request streamers to watch their reactions. I hope some more people can find this level and realize what an insane feat it was for 2018.

by FAR the most amount of effort ive put into a level which is really funny in hindsight. ~44 hours in the editor compared to my rated level's FIFTEEN. but in all honesty im glad this was the level to take me the most amount of time! back in 2.1 ive always thought of the original video of the gasoline as one of the funniest gd shitposts and i always told myself id be SO happy if someone was able to somehow recreate it in 2.2

cut to the beginning of 2025 and i decided to take that liberty myself. this level was a fucking JOURNEY to create to say the least. having to merge essentially 15 full levels with no cohesion to each other while keeping the gameplay functional and the levels WORKING is no easy task whatsoever. it took a lot of pain and agony to make some of them work (im talking about YOU creo's part, i had to rebuilt it entirely by hand and making the transition into it took SO long). but in hindsight, im so glad i did it. i did everything i could to make it as close to the original video as possible, and id say i did a pretty good job! theres obviously a couple things i couldnt get right, such as the font sometimes, not being able to show some colors due to shader limits, and that fucking VIDEO PART. (i did my best LOL)

the level plays like absolute garbage, but its probably one of the funniest things ive ever made and im so happy everyone else enjoys my recreation !! :D

Levels like Two Realms are why I enjoy this game so much. Geometry Dash is a game where you can make whatever you like, use whatever song you want, and create an experience for everybody else to easily enjoy! Finding levels with so much effort and thought put into them that sadly didn't receive a rate or as much attention as they should is one of my favorite things to do in this game. I've found TONS of levels that are extremely interesting which were either never rated or forgotten about over time, but the creativity and passion behind them brings them up to the top of my favorite levels of all time.

Two Realms is absolutely no exception to this either. I was told by Mlau to play this as a bit of a level request, now quite curious I decided I should play it! A good FOUR days after the original message that is, (woops!) and oh my GOD is this level awesome. Two Realms is made by EddyZC and is a remaster of their extremely old 2.0 level Two Worlds. Two Worlds was a simple 2.0 Nine Circles level which was pretty standard for the time, nothing too special, yet still really fun! Two Realms almost COMPLETELY changes the theme of Two Worlds, having so many new parts with tons of new decoration! So many new ideas strewn across the almost 2 minute long level that just makes it an absolute joy to play through. It incorporates the same nine circles wave and the red wave from the original but puts them in a new light among tons of other new parts! The level is extremely fast paced with camera controls everywhere and is just a BLAST to play through from beginning to end.

Now, is it rateworthy? Probably not, I mean it's slightly empty in some places and practice mode is almost COMPLETELY broken as after a certain point every click just sends you backwards LOL. But it really makes you think, does a level need to be rateworthy to be good? I'd say not! This level is an extremely enjoyable experience and just shows how much fun the creator was having while making it, and I think that's exactly what a level needs to be good! This level just oozes ideas and creativity in every part, and even if every part might not be the most cohesive with one another, I think it really adds to what this level has. I'm also not too sure what this level is exactly ABOUT, I mean there's eyes and this one mirror scattered across the level, there might be some kind of story but I sadly can't pick up what it's putting down LOL

Overall, Two Realms is a super cool remake of EddyZC's old level and I'm so happy I was able to play it :D I would absolutely send it to some mods if the practice mode bug was fixed LOLLL

Also shoutout Ringo Ando from hit game Puyo Puyo πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

since i met you was the first level I ever watched from the notorius art creator skywalker14, and WOW does it still stand up in my eyes. Unlike the themes of many of their other levels, since i met you visually tells a story about "pure joy, peace, love, finding beauty in simple things and exploring the world" (according to skywalker's description), and I can't deny that at all. This level is just extremely happy all throughout it, and feels like a journey through another world thanks to skywalker's incredibly unique artstyle. I've always been extremely fond of skywalker's style, and it never disappoints no matter what theme they're aiming for.

since i met you has you travelling through a beautiful fantasy landscape, journeying through forests, flying through the air, adventuring through castles, relaxing at a beach, dancing at a ball, it has everything you could ask for in a level like this. If I had to describe it in a way that makes sense, it feels like you're traveling through a fairy tale in the imagination of a kid. Everything is super colorful and vibrant and is just mystical to the eyes. The song is also an extremely beautiful choice for a level like this, utilizing a NONG song by The Avalanches which just makes the atmosphere of this level hit SO much harder. It clocks in just under 2 and a half minutes and brings you through an extremely compelling world which you could only see in a skywalker level.

My favorite part would have to be the ballroom scene, which I assume many others would agree with it. The animated silhouettes dancing is an extremely nice touch and super well executed! It's not the most perfect animation, but I think that fits with the drawn out style that skywalker is known for. I also really like how skywalker uses emptyness to their advantage, even if they have complex backgrounds at times to fit the drawn art style, they like to keep the skies empty and let the landscape wrap itself around you and put you in it's world. It's an extremely touching and beautiful level which I absolutely love.

The gameplay is also super fun! It keeps you travelling throughout these sections without feeling too disconnected from what's going on, and helps keep you within this storybook land.

since i met you is an extremely pretty level in every way, and I can absolutely understand why it's their most liked. Even if it's not my personal favorite from skywalker (that would have to go to THE LIMIT) it is one of the best examples of skywalker's style and will always stay in my mind when I think of atmospheric and pretty levels. :D

THIS IS SO COOL!!!!!! I've always been a sucker for both platformer levels and searching games like this (I used to be obsessed with Find The games on Roblox) and this does it SO well.

The level consists of 10 stages all with completely different decoration where you must find where your icon is placed within the stage. You move a giant red square around the screen and if your icon is within the square, you can select it and move onto the next stage! The decoration between each level is SUPER varied and never looks the same as a previous stage, which I absolutely love. The levels themselves aren't too hard and it's relatively easy to find your icon, but I think that can be excused due to it's intent to be a 2 moon LOL

I also really love the idea of having your other dual icon ALSO be hidden on the stage, usually in a slightly more difficult spot in order to get the coins! It's a really fun way to implement coins with also keeping the same idea of the level. I also really like the sparkly blocks which allow you to unlock the cube after you hit 5 of them, it utilizes the other jump key so it's not just unused across the whole level and also makes you search harder than you would for a normal icon, as sometimes the sparkles are hard to see with the bright and energetic visuals!

find the cube is a super fun and interesting take on a platformer level and I'm honestly SHOCKED this isn't rated yet, this is absolutely something I could see being rated now. It was very fun to find all the cubes as well as the coins and I really hope this can be their first rate! :D

dropdead by Quitora is the first ever "gimmick" layout I saw, and that's probably a common sentiment for many others. About six years ago, Mulpan posted a video showcasing dropdead, and that's where many people learned about these types of levels. Including me! I absolutely LOVE this level with all my heart, it introduced me to one of my favorite music artists (Frums) and just has an insane amount of rewatchability.

Up until I first watched this video, I never really knew about the layout scene. I had seen Sh4rky's Overtime layout and that's about it, so imagine how absolutely shocked I was watching THIS for the first time. dropdead is a layout to the song of the same name, and showcases many gimmicks involving the wave and different speeds.

One very cool thing about this layout, is that you are never at the normal speed. You're never at one of the in-game speeds I should say, you're always either slower than 0.5x speed or faster than 4x speed. It's incredibly fitting for the song and makes for some incredibly unique gameplay for the time. I remember watching the first part for the first time and instantly opening GD on my iPad to try and make slow gameplay like that for myself, of course failing instantly and going back to the video. However, it always stuck with me in the end. This level uses speed to its advantage though, staying slow in all the slow parts, and going EXTREMELY FAST during the fast parts. That might feel obvious, but the way dropdead does it feels just right and I think Quitora got everything down perfectly. The fast parts feel almost humanly impossible on first watch and feels like you're traveling at mach 10. (Just like the song!)

While the varying speed is very cool, the main gimmick of the level involves these fake waves. At multiple points there will be fake built in waves to the level to aid the gameplay or visuals. The first time you might notice this is about 30 seconds in, when two mini waves fly across the screen and create a little corridor for your mini cube to go through. It's incredibly smooth especially for a level from SIX YEARS AGO. The other wave gimmick is a very cool spider-esque wave, where you hold to teleport up onto a platform and let go to transfer to a bottom platform. It makes these very interesting looking square wave, and I'm pretty sure it was inspired by the arcs in Arcaea.

The level ends with a final dash orb where you go through the entire level backwards at incredible speeds and turn into 5 mini waves. This part looks INSANELY cool for early 2.1 and I remember watching it and having my jaw DROP at how something like this could be possible. Obviously, with new abilities in 2.2 and even a lot more knowhow in the editor in 2.1, something like this might be very easy to create. However, back during this time, layouts like this were essentially unheard of in the mainstream. It definitely inspired a lot more gimmick layouts like it and I'm very happy that it did that. :)

Beware!

Cuidado!

Factory by Saturos182 is a level that has become very renowned in many ways, mostly due to it's difficulty rating. Factory is currently rated as 6 stars when it should most likely be demon due to it's very 2.0 styled gameplay which is full of moving objects and overall unsightreadable gameplay, in combination with its very strict timings.

While this level is very hated on for its misrating, I think this level is fucking AWESOME. The vibes this level gives off are absolutely unseen in other levels and gives off such a raw atmosphere that other levels don't. The level, obviously, takes place in a factory, and involves you entering and escaping from said factory. You must dodge all the moving buzzsaws, jump across unstable platforms, move across conveyers, jump over acid pits, it has everything you want in a factory.

This level has AURA if nothing else. While the decoration for its time isn't the best per se, I think this absolutely deserved a feature solely for its creative ideas. It feels like an actual platformer level from a real platforming game, where you go through different rooms of a factory and jump across pits using hung up platforms from the ceiling! There's so many little details in this level that I absolutely love, such as the hanging robots, the laboratory filled with monsters that the scientist has created surrounded by flasks of unknown liquids, I especially love the staircase tunnels that you go through to get to higher areas!

The last quarter of this level is an absolute joy to me, because while you've been relatively slow throughout the entire level, you now suddenly speed up after you accidentally triggered an alarm and now must escape as fast as possible. Traversing through high and low across platforms, avoiding saws, avoiding acid pits filled with monsters most likely created from the laboratory before, pits of fire with said monsters, all before you finally escape into the snowy mountains, away from the hells that surrounded you in that factory.

However, my favorite part by far about this level and series as a whole is the LORE. There's actual lore to this yes. I don't know too much about it so I won't go into detail as I don't want to give any misinformation, but this factory was apparently the last robot factory made by the late Isaac Wayne. Wayne was a genius engineer who sadly passed in 1910 shortly after finishing his factory, however, the common belief is that he is still alive, somewhere.

In another level known as Factory Secrets, we get more information on this supposed Wayne. It seems that Wayne has been working with an army of some kind, and has some kind of enemies that he was looking out for. Another weird thing noticed in one of the factory rooms is that he has a room... dedicated to himself? Not just an office, but a room to study him. Isaac Wayne. This is a very odd room to have, a room to study yourself in your own factory? Wayne was a genius after all, he might have just wanted to understand how his own mind works, how the brain works in general, too many unknowns to give a concrete answer.

That's about all I can say with sincerity as I'm not exactly sure of the rest, but I absolutely LOVE when creators give lore with their levels. It shows how much effort the creator put into it and it really shows here. Even if the gameplay is too hard for a 6 star, I think the theming and creativity of this alone should've at least given it it a feature. I love this level and I genuinely hope more people can learn about it :)

An incredibly fun journey of a level which reminds me of why I love this game so much. Sure there will always be very technically impressive levels, and levels that have super good atmosphere, and all of that. But in my opinion, none of that can compare to a level where you can just tell the creator was just having FUN while making it. It's why I shill the magic tab so hard, it's full of levels created by people who had a vision and saw it through!

This level just emits an aura of joy I haven't seen any other level do, every part just feels "happy" to me. It might just be because of the song, but I dig it SO hard.

However, despite what the level's theme and aura implies, I think is not what the level is truly going for. The level seems very happy-go-lucky at first, but in the drop there are some things that suggest that this level might not be as happy as you might think. Showing objects such as knives, bandages, pills, and a noose.

Now I might be completely wrong with this, and I am VERY sorry if I am, but this feels like a theme of someone escaping a very difficulty school life through self-harm/suicidal tactics. I'm not sure if they go through with it at the very end since it ends with the cube simply looking out of a window at a house, but it's definitely implied that something is happening.

From what I view, when the cube escapes the school they are sent on a journey through the clouds, which is very happy and fun. I think this might be a representation of either being extremely high off of medication and/or a final resolve for them. (They're celebrating because they finally decided to buckle down and "do it.") It's a shockingly heavy topic which I actually didn't notice at first glance due to the objects just kind of blending in with each other at the Falling Up-esque cube part. It's incredibly interesting and I'd love to know if I got the theme right on this, this is at least how I interpreted it.

Moving onto the actual level, this level has some SUPER cool parts which I really like! I really like how the level both begins and ends with this black and white monochrome slow cube part. It both fits the song and my supposed theme I gave. The beginning cube also has what seems to be overhanging school lights and the last cube seems to be lampposts, implying their walking home. The first part after the first cube is a really cool 3D visualization of a school building which heavily reminds me of Pinecones, jumping over various school themed obstacles. It's very simple but very effective for a level like this :)

You then break out of a window and fly through the air around a lot of various school supplies, which slowly transition into other things I mentioned before. After this, you get hit with a BURST of energy as you are now flying through the clouds! The spikes in this part look SUPER cool and I love how they pulse as you move by them, the block design is a really pretty pink and overall it just looks super happy! It eventually opens up into a free fly ship part which has these giant glow bars go down in sync to the song.

At the end of this you get hit with an even BIGGER burst of energy as you are now in a very zoomed out swing section flying around the same spikes as before but also with these really gool geometric space blocks! This part is very simple in retrospect and reminds me of the magic tab a lot, it might not be the best executed color wise but I think it fits for a level like this. The gameplay is also REALLY FUN HERE!!! I love it so much. It then enters a dual which has this super cool effect of the blocks you're jumping on literally flying into the void behind you! It feels like something out of early 2.1 (compliment again, i swear) and reminds me a lot of Disco Night by HeroMoltenGD actually!

The part ends with you starting back at a similar looking black and white cube as I mentioned before, to which the level then ends.

I was honestly shocked to watch this level for the first time, I had only known Somie because I had occassionally seen them on the community tab, (usually getting some sort of backlash for a tweet where they just wanted to show off something cool [I FEEL THAT DW πŸ’”πŸ’”]) but I never expected them to make such an awesome level, I definitely have to check out more of their levels after this :D
