I like the theming and it's always nice to see a top 1 with a clear artistic direction that's not just "dark red scary satan blood demon" aurafarming. The cave/crystal theme is well-executed and is a scenario where tight, unforgiving gameplay makes sense. I can't speak on the quality of the gameplay at the moment since I'm nowhere near skilled enough to meaningfully play the level, but the level would clearly be a lot better if you could tell what was going to kill you. The hitboxes are an absolute mess. #MakeSpikesLookLikeSpikesAgain
There's another one????
An inventive take on the nine circles genre, really hope this gets rated!
Cool visuals, with some cool color schemes and effects. Unfortunately the level turns into Boobawamba at around 35%, and that made it infuriating to play. The dual ship after is also a noticeable jump in difficulty, but it's satisfying to pull off so I don't mind it as much.
Absolutely beautiful level. I love the variety and intricacy in the various designs. The effects and transitions are on point, and it really has no dull moment despite being entirely monochromatic. The song chosen is also an intimate, soaring piece that makes this level feel like traveling through an illustration, perhaps something like a double-spread manga panel. The gameplay is a little tricky at times, but the novelty of the tilted part (created before camera triggers) is commendable.
Another Waboo Creator Contest entry (going off the level's description here) destined to polarize the community, with simultaneous "OMG!!!!! NO WAY THIS WAS MADE IN GEOMETRY DASH!!!" TikToks/YT comments and "Dead Device is an insult to life itself and a manifestation of the late stage capitalism that has plagued the 2020s." tweets/Hyperbolus reviews surely in the works as I write this.
This level feels AI-generated in its sheer lack of originality. There is nothing here that isn't a reference to some other level, just an amalgamation of hype moment references to other levels. Nothing exists outside of the training material, which consists of Rage Quit, Deadlocked and iSpy for whatever reason. It's sad because there is a lot of effort clearly put into this, I just wish that work would go towards something inventive and creative. It reminds me of live-action remakes of animated movies, with hundreds of millions of dollars worth of SFX and passionate work from thousands of specialists all going towards "old movie but new".
This level made me raise my overall rating of Rage Quit by 3 points, to appreciate the originality that is present within that level.
it’s easy to understand why everyone hates this level, and every 0 it gets is deserved. That being said, PAHC Never Clear by our very own lolcow WKGames is deranged to the point where I see it as more of a work of performance art than a GD level.
Le Muguet de Mai. The lily of the valley.
As the name suggests, this level is themed around flowers, and does a great job of utilizing 2.2 features to tastefully accentuate the theme instead of spamming CapCut effects with a great example being the beginning and its platforms that use the scale triggers to literally bloom in front of you. The floral block designs and vibrant colors all add to the atmosphere. I also love the art style, aiming for a memorable distinction instead of the default mode of just making it as shiny and realistic as possible.
The gameplay is easy to follow as well, showing that you can create an engaging experience in 2.2 without having the camera perform acrobatic circus tricks and a lasagna of shader effects layered on top of one another. Some parts were a little janky, like the swing and spider, but I still enjoyed this level a lot.
