*mini review
Suffers from the gameplay being boring & while the deco is technically impressive, is really hazy looking at times and genuinely looks AI made / img2GD made (which is what I suspect happened), which really makes it feel like Pipe didn’t put it any effort beyond what they thought would get them a good rating, which is scummy.
The space car is funny tho, gives this a 3/10. Same deal with Pipe “quitting” over getting epic (which is what this deserved)
This level is interesting for sure, no other way to start breaking it down
This level has a lot of unique concepts, but I feel like a lot of it just doesn’t quite fully execute properly. It’s certainly “raw”, but it’s so raw that it feels like OnlyTrying didn’t quite put in as much effort as it was intended to (or that they did). It lacks a ton of polish, and while it tries to do song representation, it kind of feels like it missed the mark at times. The concepts are cool but it misses a ton of the important elements that this really needed to make it feel more complete. I like what’s existent, but I know OnlyTrying can do experimental styles with more polish, and I would have liked to have seen that here
Unfortunately, the gameplay is just kind of meh, it’s a minute of barely anything ship & the last 20% is auto, which is just frankly boring and is probably what stopped this from getting rated sooner. It’s not bad, just incredibly boring
Overall, the gameplay is a 25/100, and the decoration is a 47/100, for an overall 3/10
I’ve said a lot before about how I feel about this level, but I’ll keep it as brief as I can so I avoid tangents
I don’t like this level, the gameplay is stereo madness, and while that can work in 2025 if the level is constructed around that, this level simply isn’t. It suffers from the fact that the gameplay wasn’t made for the level, but rather Bli tried to force the level onto the gameplay. This led to a bunch of issues with making the gameplay
The ship parts especially fall flat, they really rely on switching visuals so the player doesn’t have time to look at their flaws, which I personally think is a pretty cheap way to go about making visuals. It can work if it’s connected but it very much is not in this case.
The second cube part especially annoys me because it’s the worst combination of visuals (basically just a split screen and an overlay), and gameplay (because you can’t see it due to aforementioned split screen + overlay obscuring it the whole time)
I don’t hate this as much as I used to, but the best I can give this is like a 3/10 overall. A frustrating playing experience mixed with a heavy dose of overhype.
