A simple level with a nice style. Nothing too revolutionary but nothing too bad either.
While I really like the style and deco road went here, I'm not really a fan of the gameplay. Maybe I just got really unlucky, but I kept dying to random spikes and objects I didn't know existed. Most of the objects blend into the decoration so it's hard to tell what kills you and what doesn't. I kept dying at the end part because of this. Maybe I just got unlucky, but this issue really soured my taste for this level.
This level looks and plays very similarly like a Majacko core level, both in the positive and negative ways.
World's first level to actually use the pixel blocks well.
For real, this is a nice break from the typical platformer extreme we see. The level has a nice use of decoration and effects that compliment the style the creator was going for. The decoration was inspired by Celeste, but it has enough original ideas that doesn't feel obvious or just a rip-off from that game. I really like how the level was structured around the jetpack gamemode. It makes the level feel more purposeful and not just a gimmick. I also like the two distinct sections the level has. It keeps the level going without the previous section dragging on for too long.
All in all a short but sweet level. (7.5)
The epitome of "creating for yourself and not giving a fuck about other people's expectations". Candy has everything that might make someone hate the level, either for personal or standard reasons:
Layout block design
Heavy use of effects and flashing lights
Obscure references that most people wouldn't know
The use of copies assets from other levels
Cringy song
But I think that all these "issues" make the level standout from the rest of the crowd. It's truly a level that was made for the creator, and only for the creator, and I highly respect anyone that makes art for themselves instead of the factory produced levels that is the awarded tab.
Not to mention that the song and the sync in this level goes so hard.
