i watched my friend almost have a breakdown over this level
additional to the chokepoints they found a bug at 83% by dying to it from zero
Cruel, cruel level.
Visuals are whatever but the like five texts that say ego killing or smth similar feel uber pointless
This didn't age as well as I wish it did but it’s still quite funny.
Rainbow “core” part is super cool but the rest has some really strange structuring. Definitely has this weird feeling of being empty and messy at the same time but I like messy levels so if the empty aspect of that were fixed I think this could be a favorite of mine. Honestly overall just wish it did more because that would give it the opportunity to be funnier.
Not the worst level for its time but still the only thing significant about it is its history. I kinda like unbalanced levels but the ship chokepoints in this level still pissed me off quite a bit, especially 55% and the transition out.
Lots of unintentional visual bugs when entering new parts which, regardless of its time, I think just brings it down more.
First few parts are pretty neat visually and gameplay wise, but it gets a little uninteresting 43% onwards. I know it was made in a very short time, but I wish that last 57% had the same effort that was put into the first 43%. It overall works well with the song though which brings it up.
Very fun to play. It seems weird at first but mostly everything gets consistent after you realize the 2nd ship is just holding on every orb that aren’t black orbs (mostly). The finale isn’t as bad as it seems either, as it just requires memorizing where to hold in like 2-3 places which I suppose makes the level more first half heavy but it’s alright I think the tiny bit of poor balancing benefits enjoyment here actually. Would say that the part from 43% - 57% is a bit weird to play and isn’t as consistent or satisfying as the rest of the level though.
Would recommend playing.
While not all that original or interesting, Ikaros still has consistent decoration quality between parts. Not really a whole much I can say about the decoration however, since I’d much rather talk about the gameplay.
Ikaros could be fun; playing each part individually is pretty awesome. The predrop is incredibly boring due to it carrying a good chunk of the level’s hard parts, but it would be tolerable if the level just wasn’t as long as it is. The drop is very consistent as long as you get past the first part of it, which isn’t bad but simply just harder than the other parts. The quality of the gameplay tanks heavily after 60% though, so I just really wish it ended after the drop. It’s littered with bugs or jumps requiring very weird precision to set up such as: the slope jump at 64% being stupidly tight and probably the hardest click in the level, the ufo at 73% sometimes just launching you into the ceiling if you don’t hug the spikes at the bottom, the jump after the blue pad at 77% just breaking if you don’t approach the previous orbs with a very weird setup that isn’t even fully consistent, and the wave at 88% being a little weirdly structured makes it extremely choke-able especially when you’re over 3 minutes into the level.
As I said, Ikaros COULD be a good level, but the inconsistencies in the current version just bring this level down a lot for me. I hope in particular something in the future happens to the 64% slope jump, since that just feels ridiculous to play. Since 0%-60% is (somewhat) fun, I won’t give it a horrible gameplay score though.
A little bit of a mess overall, but the gameplay is oddly fun!
Not sure exactly how I feel about the 2.0 fire inserted randomly but the rest of the level’s decoration is fine for its time, maybe a little uninspired and boring though.
I expected this to play quite poorly since everyone always bashes on this but it’s actually really consistent for some reason! I was able to get to the wave quite a bit and the wave itself wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. My experience overall kinda reminded me of Windy Landscape, another level I liked playing (though that level isn’t really unbalanced just consistent). Unbalanced levels are just cool too and we need to stop shaming them. Wish this had more interesting decoration but it’s somewhat excused due to when it was made.
Remember thinking this level was crazy back in 2018 so much time has passed damn.
Takes a bit to build up and probably isn’t meant to be as silly as I find it to be but I like silly levels so I still like it all this time later. Not a huge amount of levels like theme themselves around the gd editor so that gives it maybe a bit of originality even if almost all the assets are just from Geometry Dash.
Using mini for the smartphone at the start is kinda cute and cool to see, and drop in particular has aged quite well. Overall just a silly and neat relic of 2017-2018.
Not really a fan of this :(
I really like the first and last parts, and I like the stylistic switching idea, but overall this level just feels super underdeveloped though. Each part feels like its just missing something, and some existing details such as the torches in the second part make me kinda confused to whether its tryna be authentic to the levels its stylistically replicating or not.
