incredible song rep, really solid design work, and full of personality. this level would not have landed nearly as hard if it wasn't a SNC remake, which is saying a lot given how redundant most remakes feel.
to me, devoreur de dieux feels less like a level and more like a canvas; building a level with the expectation that it won't be playable not because of the gameplay but rather the game's technical limitations is a bold move (albeit not a first at all for hota1991). the whole level exudes passion and every bit of deco in it feels intentional, even if it's messy. easily one of my favorites, even if i'll never be able to play it
i feel like this level being so incredibly unfun kinda bleeds into everyones *generalized* thoughts abt this level. looking back on it none of the parts are particularly bad (save for maybe metalface)? parts like shocksidian's and (aquatias? kaotik? whoever did the dual + jumps) are a little empty and i can understand them feeling a bit underwhelming but like,,,, for a silent clubstep remake from its era its really cool???? i think the grayscale + hints of rainbow works incredibly well for the level, and it's cool that it does it's own thing w the level instead of being "Silent Clubstep But Better" (i feel like this is the most boring approach to remakes.. blegh). i can totally understand disliking it based off it's gameplay (granted i don't really see why anyone would go in expecting to enjoy a nerfed silent clubstep) but this level literally does not have a visible gameplay score yet and it's still one of the lowest ranked levels on the site lmao
idk man this level's just mad overhated
