Not really a fan of this kind of NC style. I'd much prefer the 1.9 days over this.
But hey, 5/10 gameplay because it is pretty forgiving.
so-called “free thinkers” when they see “dislike this level” by fofii:
robtop should not have rated this imo but it’s a fun challenge. deco is practically nonexistent here but it’s a pretty easy foddian level.
gonna plug my extended/buffed version here: 120528619

the hate on this level is so forced, it’s really REALLY far from the worst 2.0 level. even as colon acknowledged, arathhsa had an idea in mind and made a silly little space invader level. ever since colon’s video i have seen so many death threats and hate comments to arathhsa when it’s not his fault rob put the level into a gauntlet. think about it: would you want to be sent hateful messages and threats for a level you made as a 12-13 year old? because that’s what is happening now with generation retro.
onto the level itself i guess
the gameplay has very poor music sync and is poorly balanced. the predrop is full of blind clicks and moving object misuse, and the boss is poorly telegraphed with almost nonexistent music sync. the second boss also has some very strange hitboxes. visually it is really bad after 50%, being barely related to space invaders except for the bosses. but the early parts have some neat design for early 2.0 standards.
gameplay 6.5/10
sync 5/10
visuals 6/10
overall 17.5/30 or 5.8/10
it’s like wannacry but more flashy and actually not wannacry but still a kira level also its easier than wannacry but i think wannacry is more fun
basically what im saying is that i wannacry because my eyes hurt
get ready for a long review (maybe)
for those who don’t know, this level is based on the sm64 hack “B3313”. i haven’t played it so i won’t elaborate. the decoration is very simple for the first 40% or so, being a dimly lit hallway. then there’s a piano part where the piano actually syncs to the song, which is pretty neat. the third and final part kinda feels like a castle, not much to say there.
gameplay wise it is VERY mundane. the hallway part plays like the beginning of “hi” by krmal, and the piano part has barely any input. same goes for the ending which is the only non-cube part. still better than the average 5* because the song choice isn’t some generic lofi chill beat and it actually fucking syncs.
speaking of songs, this level requires SIX songs to be downloaded. yes, SIX songs for a 52-second level (which shows up as long for reasons i will get to). and two of those are nongs. (the main song and…another one)
then there’s the coins which are by far the most interesting aspect of this level.
the first coin can be obtained by jumping immediately when the level begins (a glitch effect will appear if you did it right). then some random ass anime character (idfk who) shows up in a different room, and you get the coin upon exiting (it’s auto dw). this skips the first half of the hallway.
the second coin is at the very end, simply click to get onto another platform and fall upside down into a cube portal. you will be transported to a mysterious place with minimal gameplay. beat this section to get coin 2 (level ends immediately after).
the third coin is my personal favourite aesthetic and gameplay wise. there will be a painting at 88% (the route for coin 3 is BEFORE the route for coin 2). click to go inside the painting, a familiar sound effect will play (one of the six songs, actually). then you fall into a section that is equally familiar to those who have played sm64. that’s right the other nong is koopa’s road. this section would probably be a 6/7* on its own and lasts around 30 seconds. gameplay ends a bit before level complete so DON’T EXIT
