i think most of what i want to say has been said already who can word things far better than i ever could but i still want to say that this is like the best level of the year lol. i really hope it gets mythic because there will finally be a first true mythic extreme (demote throat of the world) and would be the new best mythic.
the gameplay is personally my favourite part of this level, and i've seen a lot of people really... not like it, which is confusing. most fun i've ever had with a classic extreme since sigsegv
wish i could say more as i think this is the best level of the year so far but you can also just listen to electricnj or anyone else yap about it instead
in my opinion this is the hardest level i've ever beaten (harder than the abyss)
probably one of my hottest takes(?) but this is the most fun level in the entire game, and almost nothing comes close.
to most people i can probably see how this level doesn't really do anything interesting, but this level does so much without even trying lol
i started playing this level as a joke, because one of my friends hated beating it, so i wanted to see how bad it really was. in my first few practice runs the level felt literally impossible. i have never done anything remotely hard with platformer swingcopter, so i had to learn an entire new skillset for this level. this leads me into my absolute favourite thing about iownfish levels. iownfish levels are WEIRDDDD i mean they basically make no sense at all compared to the average platformer. this forces me and most other players to actually think about what they're playing, and learn a new skill. mechanical warehouse trains nerve control, swing copter, cycle timings, and it's an autoscroller. sleep, is honestly all over the place. the nightmare caves in the beginning and the aquarium are unlike any gameplay you will ever play in your life. learning how to control and master the unfamiliar territory of iownfish's levels is the beauty to me, they really challenge you with new concepts. with mechanical warehouse specifically, to me, i've done like no autoscroller before, no swing copter before, and not many xxl deathless levels before. practicing and learning this level was the most fun i've ever had playing this game, almost every other level ever, even if i ended up enjoying it, i got annoyed at something at some point. never happened when playing mechanical warehouse.
i think i also got pretty lucky, only dying to the hardest part (the last 1:20) twice, but i also super overpracticed so idk. visually, this level is so simple but to me really impactful. it doesn't do any over the top art with weird shading and 3d to put you in some weird factory. this level just does what it needs to. starting out as a working warehouse slowly breaking down and burning up over time. the cycles start simple and slow and become more erratic and fast towards the end. so many subtle details throughout really immerse me and i feel like i'm actually in the warehouse. throughout the level, it almost feels like the warehouse isn't "naturally" deteriorating, and you the player end up doing something to destroy everything, and the robots in the level actually start to get mad at you. this "theory" of mine only got more confirmed with the sequel, where once you escape the warehouse you get into a room where a big evil computer tries to kill you with lasers and projectiles sooooo
in my opinion, this is the most underappreciated level of all time, and really should've gotten more popular. please play this level its soooooo goooooood
top 3 level of the year for me, and right now the best platformer of the year for me
this level somehow seems like it was MADE for me, every aspect of the level somehow fits perfectly into my tastes and biases and i think that's crazy. there's this game series i used to play as a kid on coolmathgames called abandoned and it was always my favourite online game. i had a song from abandoned 2 as my menu music for years before 2.2 came out. wretched is like the exact same genre as the abandoned games but done even better... in the geometry dash editor???
it's longer than all of the abandoned games which is insanely impressive, has harder puzzles, a more engaging story and even LOOKS better, still insane to me. i've seen people complain about the controls but tbh they're completely fine. in fact i think it's the best way you could've controlled this. the fact that this is an entire solo level by at the time a completely unknown creator is incredibly impressive. svallux managed to do so much and i give my biggest respects ever to her. this is also the most fun ive ever had in a gd minigame, and places top 3 in the most fun ive ever had in the entire game. i spent HOURS straight solving the puzzles, piecing together the lore, and making a document on how to do each puzzle. once i beat the level for the first time i was like wow this is the greatest thing ever, and then the ending animation blew me away. i guess it's nothing that special but to me, the amount of effort and passion put into the ending animation just makes me so happy, and the fact that its an entire original song used is actually insanely impressive. getting the coins and all achievements was the hardest thing ive ever had to solve by myself... and i ended up needing outside help...
there's a lot of things i want to say about this level but for some reason it's not coming to me right now, but i can definitely say this is one of the best pieces of art ive ever seen in my life lmao
pretty interesting level
the gameplay is obviously pretty good i feel like thats what it was going for but the decoration just like doesn't fit personally
if I played this muted I'd think its quite good but the song just doesn't match the deco tbh, overall decent lvl tho
I vividly remember when this got rated, and it unfortunately being the worst platformer I've ever played. no offense to the creator, they've made better levels but I cannot like this (sorry)
I really dislike bossfights in platformer, and the attacking mechanic is insanely awkward and dangerous
it is also ridiculously hard for a 7 moon and idk how it was never re rated
I'll give it that its a well designed level visually, especially for early 2.2
sorry I didn't like it :(
most of the time I go into a non demon I don't expect very much, and beating this was a pleasant surprise.
the atmosphere this level creates is very nice and simple, and I love the progression this level has.
although some of the ideas aren't the most original, its still a very charming experience
one thing I really don't like is how basic the structures are, rather than just lines and boxes it would've been really cool if there were more interesting structures
I first saw this level without the song, and I wasn't really paying attention so the like next day I watched a real showcase of it and its pretty amazing
not gonna be great at wording this but this level like put me in a world I've never been in before, the fucked up impossible gameplay is also really interesting to me considering how much in contrasts to the song and deco
I love when impossible levels don't rely on wave spam or 2p ship or whatever so it was really interesting seeing how this level "worked"
big fan
