I can sorta respect this level despite doing a lot of things im generally not a fan of, the corny alliteration in the name and extremely heavy promo from airz already gave me a bad first impression so it's nice to see something exceed my expectations. While I dont particularly feel huge on these over-modernized textures, I still think theyre aesthetically balanced and a good job was done making it look presentable inside the level. Visually speaking the only part i really had any issue with was the boss itself, it's strangely overanimated and doesnt mix well with anything building up to that point. Speaking of which, while i admire the attempt to make a fully randomized bossfight i wasnt very impressed by it, the patterns are either insanely obnoxious to read or dont pose any threat at all. Other than that the level is whatever, kind of a theme/concept dead on arrival to me but it was thoughtfully done at least
You know a level cant be too crazy when kivixi has the best part, I was fairly interested in this project because i recall liking the original layout a good bit, but aside from looking incredibly mundane for a glow level, the layout is put into an incomprehensible state for how many screen effects are just jammed into every corner. The song is still awesome, there are some good parts, but I have to be upfront and say this was a letdown.
Nauseating, the second part is its only aspect that shows any sign of promise
Grew on me quite a bit, I may not think too high of devin’s unreasonable approach to level creating but I believe this level to encapsulate his artistic soul pretty well. There’s a ton of effects and ideas I can appreciate, and despite it having the typical incoherence of a devin level it still has a lot of good volume to the environments and the way they’re structured. Most likely devins best work, I wish more of his levels used songs this good.
As inside’s biggest fan I’ll confidently state that this level doesnt come without its flaws. While the concept itself is one of the most brilliant things I’ve ever seen in this game, I feel like anything but the gameplay misses the mark for me quite a bit. The story isn’t illustrated very clearly, at least to my interpretation that is, and just leaves me with a lot to be desired from it. The shift in designs also feels very half intentional, it gets an idea across quite nicely but ultimately it doesn’t really set a good undertone and can feel pretty bland to look at overall. The progression in this level is stunning however, and combined with how the gameplay functions I still think of this level as a work of art, but with how deeply I crave for its potential to fully shine I must lower it on my hype meter.
The more I look back at this level the worse it gets, I can’t really make out what audience this was meant to cater to but it genuinely feels like a product from cocomelon with the way it babies the player and covers your screen with dumb dancing characters and comic book text
I can’t act as if I know more about the level and the context surrounding it more than I do, but I appreciate this level for what it is. I suppose not all vent levels need to dive deep into the topic it’s trying to portray, just the tone of the level alone sparks a lot of emotion already. It inspires me in a way, but I’m not entirely sure to what use yet.
