I'd consider this level the last great hurrah of the smattering of hyper-streamlined design levels in the Adiale/Schady-adjacent school of thought. Does exactly what it needs to and nothing more - besides the bossfight, which isn't terrible but still somewhat bogs the level down both visually and from a gameplay standpoint.
The contempt is so thick you can cut it with a knife. It's glorious
Haha! I recognize that one!
This guy just showed up and started kicking ass
It's just kind of a mess. Maybe everything this level tries to do could stand on its own but as it stands it's just a totally indistinct clusterfuck of ideas with no clear throughline, and not in a way that works. Don't understand why this is mythic when Ruins is
A. far more impressive
B. far more cohesive
C. generally more pleasant to look at
and it's only legendary. Mods be weird
I was agape when I realized the pad boost was the intended route. The rest of the gameplay doesn't fare much better, and its visuals don't exactly compensate. The cube-ship dual might as well be completely luck-based.
This level looks like its own LDM
Follows on the streak of very wacky and stylized art levels from Paintingorange. Starts off very intriguing, Planet Jawn in particular was a delightful part, but after the level makes a detour into more monochromatic colors that just puzzles me to no end. The quality of the art itself is still there, but so much of what makes it fun to look at is lost when it's all grey or purple as opposed to the vibrant, varied colors that made levels like Sky Watchers or Strange Relationship such a joy to watch.
Cool megacollab, I'm unfortunately going to have to detract three points until Carz lets me see my family again.
