somehow one of the coolest overlooked 2.0 design levels, more people should know about this one!

atrium has been out for 6 years but I keep coming back to this one over and over again

the level has some wonky structuring and air deco, pretty much has no background decoration and yada yada yada insert other generic level criticism. the level doesn't need to care about all that when it absolutely nails the two things that make it stand out among the rest — gameplay and song representation. atrium is one of the most fun playing and fun feeling hard demons in the game in my opinion (although I heard that coins kinda suck) and I highly recommend giving it a go

atrium got featured long after Meroo, its creator, quit the game, which makes me wonder if he ever found out that both atrium and castling got rated

A forgotten masterpiece it is.

Despite the fact that this level came out over 8 years ago it still holds up very well till this day thanks to detailed block designs/deco and vibrant color scheme. The colors especially helped the level stand out amongst the sea of mostly monochrome 1.9 and early 2.0 levels, while aforementioned design details served as direct inspiration for creators such as Namtar, who later revolutionized design meta with works such as Freshery. There are a couple of janky structure movements (a common trend amongst levels of that time) but besides that I still think the level is plenty of fun. Mystic Realm offers nothing but pure joy and whimsy, and it is a bit unfortunate that the level sank into obscurity over time.
