camera movement and spammy gp don’t go well ever, though the base gameplay isn’t all that bad
Out of the 3 (!) Five nights Pollapo remakes from Smarted, this is by far the best as well as the most faithful.
Compared to both Five Nights Smarted and Six Hours Nightbound (🤮) FNXP has the closest gameplay to the original. It recreates the janky feeling the original had without much of the actual jank. For instance, the ship part is completely changed and now has more clear hitboxes. The wave at the end is also in slow speed and lasts a bit longer.
The visuals aren’t too much different from Pollapo’s original work either, being mostly minor touches such as subtle movements in the background or updated block design. Unlike Shit Hours Nightbound the level doesn’t randomly have pixel art blocking half your screen so that’s a bonus.
There’s two minor issues I have with this level though (nothing that lowers the score). Firstly is the endscreen. It feels excessively long and as if it was only there to pad this level out to 1 minute. I do like the almost “bloody” font used for the creator, verifier and Pollapo’s names, it fits thematically (since FNP is a blood-themed level). The second issue is the song. Like the original, FNXP uses {Midnight} as its replacement. This would be fine if Pollapo didn’t make the mistake of changing its offset to 38 seconds (36.8 seconds works 100x better!). This makes it so that the replacement song has poor sync, which isn’t Smarted’s fault so I won’t deduct any points.
Pollapo blood Power…. HaHa!!
tt2 deathmogs this in pretty much every way
ok replayed after mythic rate, i don’t really enjoy bossfight levels so take this with a grain of salt. kinda felt unfair with some bossfights (especially the length) and how some attacks are just…not fun. this applies to almost every platformer bossfight but it’s especially bad hete for obvious reasons. i also wish (and this goes for br1) that the level used entirely original bosses instead of reusing ideas from other ones.
Designs/visuals are very rough even for late 1.9 standards. Feels very unpolished and unfinished in a way. Gameplay would be higher if 55-65 didn’t exist. The rest of the gameplay is either consistent or at least near the beginning. I also don’t know how the hell this took me 659 attempts. I have beaten T10 demons in less 😭
easiest hard demon plat?
very badly balanced though, it feels like 8 moon gameplay until the propeller section which is medium/hard demon level. checkpoints in this part could be more generous. a problem i found is that ttv feels very linear, which was partly (but not fully) fixed in the sequel. do i think this should be mythic? probably not. is it a bad level? no.
Solid Clutterfunk remake, the song choice and longer duration gives it a different vibe. Dambrearon used to be so peak man…
Ele(c)tronica is a surprisingly solid late 1.9 megacollab. It has the classic megacollab trend of feeling very disjointed and inconsistent, but I enjoyed learning and playing this. The visuals are generally very good and no part feels too empty or too cluttered. There’s two standout parts (for separate reasons) to me, those being SkyJax’s and TheBigJam’s parts. SkyJax made a part around 40%, and it’s a white/black part in an otherwise colourful level.
For context, Eletronica is a Tier 3 Underrated harder (roughly high easy demon). Without TheBigJam’s part, this would be a solid 7-8* level. Well, here goes. TBJ’s part is a medium demon-worthy part in a 7*. What the fuck. Who let him make this part? Did NOBODY try even a bit to nerf this? Why is there an asymmetrical mixed dual? The transition into the dual is also very inconsistent but I managed to fluke this from 28 so I wouldn’t know.
Aside from that ONE part, Eletronica is actually insanely fun to play and I recommend you check it out. Took me about 400 attempts and half an hour.
