Extremely fun sequel to another amazing level, Killbot. The gameplay, even though being pretty unbalanced, is consistent and satisfying to play. As for the deco, Lithifusion nailed the very messy style here with some pretty cool art pretty unique for it's time, plus the intense amount of deco making the parts never feel empty. Requiem being unoptimized honestly makes it better. the art is more detailed (especially the vomiting guy) and the whole screen can be filled with this very messy and cluttered deco. While yes, this can make the level a little inaccessible for people with lower end pc's. there's a list acceptable LDM that is basically just an optimized, albeit very ugly version of Requiem. it is very clear from the start that Lithifusion made this level with a lot of anger in his heart, from the RIP DAVID in the drop transition, to the middle finger, and the countless amount of fuck you's to people Lithi hates in the background of the dual. This can make Requiem seem a little pretentious but i don't think that was what Lithi was going for here, at least in my opinion, the message of Requiem is that the GD community is so toxic to the point that it can cause suicide. (David as an example) Which is pretty sad all things considered. Even with this message, Requiem still stays true as a Killbot sequel and links to the story of killbot (if not obvious enough by the ending text: "DONT OBEY THE VIRUS") Overall, Requiem is a deep masterpiece about how harmful online bullying and harassment can be, without sacrificing gameplay quality. and can still link back to killbot in the process. The only thing that brings in down from a 10 is that Requiem can seem a bit pretentious especially from the middle finger. Don't Obey The Virus.
deco is incoherent, but it gives the level much more charm and aura, especially in parts like TMN and Pennutoh, gameplay is unbalanced, but it adds to the atmosphere and makes the gameplay better, similar to how dark odyssey is balanced but much harder. music is great and unique for a top 1, especially the mashup with Diamonds by Rihanna.
vid so you know i'm not pulling my gameplay opinions out my ass
An absolute masterpiece of a remake. Dark Odyssey is a journey through 6 minutes of energetic fun. Deco is AMAZING and clears Dark Travel, the backgrounds are the best part, especially the duals. both duals are learny, but very satisfying and fun, the other gameplay isn't as good, but it's a good bridging point to the duals. the music is great and represented well in Dark Odyssey. TLDR; this clears dark travel and is a good first extreme.
My first extreme and one of the best ones in the entire game. Very unique in very aspect from gameplay to deco and even song. gameplay only consists of 3 gamemodes, robot, ball, and cube, but it doesn't get old. gameplay is fun, memory based gameplay with some timings and double clicks. deco is clean, valentines day style that represents the song very well. song is a banger with lyrics, unlike most gd songs. extremely recommend as a first extreme, it never gets boring.
Amazing deco and storytelling ruined by terrible unbalanced gameplay. Dual is way too hard for the end of the level and the predrop and after drop are snooze fests. overall, I hate the gameplay but the story telling and deco are revolutionary for the time.
