I've never been into Rafer levels much, but I do admit that their open-ended structuring is at least fun to look at. It doesn't use Pendulum - Propane Nightmares as the song though, so what's the point? Actually, maybe that's for the better. I heavily doubt any level would be able to do it justice, since it'd immediately be competing in song representation with Mass A.I., the greatest video in all of YouTube, and one which the level indirectly references via the Direct Hit. Wait, does "300% skilled airshot" use Propane Nightmares as a reference to Mass A.I.? I'll say it does.
Gotta face the elephant in the room here: the gameplay in this level is unacceptably bad at spots. However, this is only a minor detraction to the sheer style this level oozes—even if it is admittedly wholly unoriginal, it's also a superb minimalist showcase of glow, in a style which I don't think has ever been tried before. It's beautiful!
I simply don't get what people see in this. It's unbelievably barebones, even for its time, and a lot of the parts just look straight up ugly. The gameplay is serviceable, in that it doesn't have any outright bad sections, but it's also nothing to write home about. Just a very mediocre level through and through.
I'm still so mad at how bollardills made people believe for a brief moment that the rate system isn't unfair and broken. "Oh, but look at this level! It's rated, which means that the rate standards are actually fine!" And naturally, everyone immediately shut up once it was obvious that this is just a team account. bollardills should have never existed
This might sound extremely woke of me, but what separates this level from an actual endorsement of gambling? As it stands, it's practically indistinguishable in presentation from the sports betting ads I see on TV every day.
