In 2013, RobTop must have considered the black background a gameplay element on par with jump pads, orbs and gravity portals, because like all the aforementioned elements, it had a formal introduction in the form of Base After Base. Or maybe it was just a repurposed Ultiate Destruction. Regardless of RobTop's actual intentions, the black background does create quite an odd environment worthy of its own level: the square-tiled background of previous levels and the odd abstract-mechanical designs of the blocks fade away into a world of pure white on black. A black background is Geometry Dash at its most abstract, and Escalater takes full advantage of this fact. This level of metaphoricity is rarely seen nowadays.

I saw in Space Valley just how good of an effect creator Joshenjol could be, so it's nice to see their skills applied to an actually finished level. It still has a bit of that 2.0 funk, but it's not overwhelming.

While playing through this level, my prospective rating constantly fluctuated between 8 and 9 depending on how far I was in the level. It's no real surprise that the most fun parts of the level are the ones where different orb types are not clustered too close together, and the presence of gravity portals is kept to a minimum. It's one thing to have to register what orb you just hit and where it's going to take you multiple times a second, it's another to just have the flinging-around done to you against your will. It's certainly a novel concept, but one that gradually wears off the more you fall out of the world through seemingly no fault of your own.

Yet another level that serves to cement Cerufiffy as one of the most technically proficient creators of all time. The level is, of course, really good aside from that. Also, as far as I'm aware, this is the only Michael Gauntlet CC entry with a specific political message in it, which I wholeheartedly agree with. #KillAllWikipediaEditors

Just can't hate it. Everything is so meticulously thought out, and the ships flying in the background at the climax of the song give me chills.
