Very awesome SGC entry. It has a very breathtaking visual style that makes me nostalgic for old educational astronomy books I read as a kid, particularly the aesthetics of the Eyewitness books. Most SGC entries revolved around a futuristic aesthetic, whereas this one borrows a lot from old-age academia just like Planispheres, which makes it really stick out among the rest. I think had this stuck out to a longer duration, this may have been like top 5 sgc entries for me. But right now, I think its a very well-deserved top 10 entry.
Pretty neat entry. I like the gameplay here although the difficulty gets a bit inconsistent from time to time.
Imo a really strong entry for the Flash Gauntlet contest. Vibrant, chaotic, boundless. Really love the way the weird-looking square pops in and out to the beat of Clear Pring. I do think the last section loses it a bit for me, wish that portion was fleshed out on. The credit animation is also really damn nice, I would have loved to see something like that into a fully fledged part.
Honestly my biggest gripe has nothing to do with the level but with the way the creator uploaded this on an alt account presumably for "dumping low effort levels". This seems really high quality to me so it confuses me why this priority wasn't given for the account.
Quite possibly the best reimagining of a Flash song from Double Sheaths into GD form. Really ethereal, ghastly experience, not sure whether its a dream or a nightmare. Samuell keeps things minimalist yet manages to bring out a ton out of that. This was probably nowhere near the intention, but it feels like a natural evolution of the calm yet ambivalent meditation that In The Radiator explored (I'm talking about that level purely on its own merits and without the pastebin). This might be my favorite entry in the Flash gauntlet contest, tough choice between this or Ivory Quintessence.
Very neat level from Ozzel as always. He never fails to evoke a really gripping and tranquil experience. An issue I have with a good amount of Flash gauntlet contest entries is that they feel like they're trying to emulate Flash. In contrast, I feel like Squeaker plays very well into taking inspiration from Flash rather than outright copying the style. I do feel like the level loses the plot a bit halfway through. I feel like the level's just getting good when it then hits you with the 20 sec ending screen. It looks nice mind you, but the experience just feels unfinished, which seems like a common pitfall with Ozzel levels. But just like with Sunshine, the first half is strong enough to pull it together for me.
EDIT: I have eaten up and enjoyed the premature 20 second ending slop
Very good, brain-tickling level. I do kind of feel like the visual designs don't complement the level in a super solid way, but I wouldn't say those elements are at odds with each other either. It's serviceable? Pretty intriguing designs but just a bit of a disconnect in terms of representation. I do think it gets better near the end of the level, especially with the use of spider orbs transitioning to different phases of the song.
The "dual" gimmick is also really nice. Feels like a really neat evolution of early autos. Part of me wishes there could be some gameplay interchange with the dual but part of me likes it how it is. Hoping this places high, its one of the more unique Flash entries in an already unique batch.
A bit too rough around the edges imo for some of the earlier parts but I can't deny the grand, euphoric progression and payoff this achieves. I really love how eldritch and insurmountable this feels in both gameplay and aesthetic. It's a concept I've thought plenty about in a GD context but never felt like it got properly explored within the community until now. I do wish I had the skillset to play this, but I have a big skill issue.
