really fun gameplay throughout the duration, except for the ship at 20 and the ball part it’s relatively consistent and easy to learn. despite me being microclick and robot crippled this only took me what, 300 attempts? The decoration is really well-done and the pacing is good though i do wish that it went on for a bit longer.

the coin is a good extra challenge if you’re feeling extra motivated (you have to collect 3 hearts in the robot section at around 40%). surprisingly i was able to fluke this from 37 with the coin too!

the art in this is INSANELY well made for 2.0, better than a lot of stuff from early-mid 2.1! gameplay is also pretty fun for a 4* and surprisingly didn’t bore me to death

one of the best easy demon platformers (the name also fits because this should be insane). gameplay is really good and well-synced. good progression and theming

i see stars is probably my 2nd favourite level in the top 20 behind exotic soul. the gameplay flows really nicely across the 3 minute runtime and progresses very nicely. some parts are a bit unbalanced (such as the midway ship/ufo and last ship) but it doesn't detract from the playing experience. the visuals are less "oh look at me i'm sooooo fancy" cough cough Metamorphosis and more "glow". The glow style is executed very well here with the space theme (TWO space-themed levels in the non-space gauntlet/s!) and feels very polished. Shame this wasn't finished in time but glad it still won a top 10 placement and a well-deserved Legendary rate.

really fun memory level with an (afaik) original concept. the base gameplay is laughably easy BUT the memory makes it a demon. coin felt a little TOO easy though

(re-review)

Before completing this level I thought this was some iPad kid slop made to be watched on a screen. To some extent that IS true, as the decoration takes priority over the gameplay. Even then, the gameplay is actually pretty good. The two main chokepoints are the 3D part and the ending which kills most of your runs. I don’t mind the 3D part being harder as it weeds out the inexperienced players, and it’s at the beginning. The problem with the final parts is that every time you die, you have to spend up to 2 minutes just to get back to that part. I understand it’s a climactic part but the visuals get in your way and make it an unfun experience.

For those who don’t know, this level is named after the computer virus of the same name (Hence the virus/computer theme). A lot of the block design in the beginning and drop is reminiscent of null textures, and doesn’t use a lot of objects. In fact, out of the top 10 this was the only level I could play lag-free on my old laptop.

We don’t talk about the song. It is corny as all hell, be lucky that Kira9999 knows how to use song cuts people. Good beat but weird lyrics/vocals. Trust me on this one!

Overall I think WANNACRY definitely deserved a placement somewhere in the top 5, but I doubt its Mythic rating for one reason: Magistro.

Magistro - 3rd place (Legendary)

WANNACRY - 4th place (Mythic)

Even if Magistro was rated before the contest Rob could’ve rerated it to Mythic post-results and given Wannacry either rating. Oh well

nemo should honestly code a version of 3depth for steam like zejoant is doing with quarion currently. the gameplay is pretty fun, and it’s even more fun to see how quick you can clear all 5 stages (my best is 2:12). obviously visuals were not the priority here, since the main focus of this level is a functional 3d engine in the gd editor. and i respect nemo for sticking to limits and not being too ambitious. else you end up with a visually impressive but buggy mess.

holy fuck

i’m not good enough to make a comment about the gameplay, but the art and song representation.

holy fuck

if this didnt use a nong (or had a more suitable replacement), easy legendary extreme.
