The older updates could have been represented better, and I am not a fan of the background being stuck on black most of the time, but the later parts are somewhat neat.
I find this way too funny to give it anything lower (genuinely, I love this level), though the poorly executed Nine Circles effect hurts my eyes. I appreciate the chain object usage given the song.
This had the potential to be good, but unfortunately, it wastes most of it by being a hard-to-look-at speedbuild. I hope it was a good birthday present, at least.
I had fun with this when it came out. Liked the difficulty and certainly a based level name.
For a demake that abides by the original 3D line and object count restrictions of the era, Aperature 1p9 gets almost everything right, and typical of 1.9 levels, is easier to learn than the original.
The only sour part that sticks out is the heavy ship in the filmstrip section. I would’ve cheated and enabled Fix Gravity Bug, as it’s much more intuitive, and leaving it off still doesn’t make it accurate to 1.9, as ship physics changed in 2.0 (less wobbly) and 2.2 (240 TPS). The 3D part is also not super visually interesting, but I’m not sure it’s possible to do anything about that.
Incredibly repetitive deco for a level of this length, and the gameplay ranges from filler to misery. Even if this were better, I don’t think it would be great until Rob adds persistent checkpoints, which would remove the only difficult thing about this level. Though yes, I can admit this does teach you How to platformer.
(Also, this does not affect my score, but a level this simple having this many objects is sad. You could save so many by moving the outer parts of the room with triggers.)
