Every time another level overtakes this either in likes or in downloads an angel gains its wings
Textbook poorly aged. Even compared to a lot of the other super-liked pre-1.9 map pack levels this is still something whose annoying gameplay is infamous. Also just no strong points really going for it, though that can be said of just about anything going that far back tbf
hell yeah
amazing atmosphere creative and memorable gameplay and deco and great sync and its iconic and awesome and legendary and do i even need to say anything really. just look at it
one of the best levels of all time, really
slenderman level
This level was created partially as a challenge to build with a randomly selected song, and its honestly a miracle they landed on Goin down and managed to pull it off so well. Absolutely manages to capture the discomforting feeling the music has. Usually invisible GP is an annoying and overused trope in impossible levels but here it adds to that "getting lost" concept I've mentioned in a couple reviews now. I also like how the rather barebones sync makes the level feel that much more oppressive, and the same can be said of some of the vision-blocking deco.
Some smaller details I really like are the fact that everything is in mirror mode, making everything feel a bit extra "off" with it all being backwards, and also the sun is pure black and radiates darkness in that one part. What the fuck
The 2nd worst ILL top 1. Generic gp with low quality deco and bad sync to a bad song. Feels almost like something you'd create to make fun of generic impossible levels. I still don't think that would save this though

It's 2017. DollarC has just uploaded a preview of Sunix's upcoming "Unnamed Circles" megacollab. Set to be harder than Sonic Wave, with a great song, high speed and intense waves, some crazy orb gameplay, and the one decorated part so far is great. This is going to be something special
It's 2020. "SoulBreaker" is finally out, apparently, and oh my god it sucks. How do you make something this bad. Was every single decorator aside from ItzSept blind??? Most of these parts aren't just "oh they're amateur creators without much experience" bad, no, anyone can look at these and immediately see that they're ugly as hell. All the basic rules of visual design and even comprehension seem to have been thrown out the window while unpleasant gradients are allowed through the front door. Negative cohesion between parts. Visual bugs show up all the time, much like how the gameplay is full of its own bugs. You really gotta question how this many people simultaneously looked at what they made and thought "yeah, this is good enough" all within the same level.
If you asked me to pick a level that needs a remake, this would definitely be near the top of the list, just a complete wase of potential
I still don't know why Soulja Boy is in this video
Just a fairly interesting level. I imagine if this level was more known there'd be complaints about the obviously stolen effects but idgaf. In fact its nice to have a bunch of good effects all in one place instead of having to sit through the rest of infrared just for that one ball part, not to mention the gameplay is pretty neat.
Crazy how every level using the grayscale -> color theme progression is a banger. This isn't Lonely Travel of course, but it's still hard to go wrong with that. I love the little bit where light can be seen peeking through a crack in the ceiling, kind of foreshadowing/teasing the eventual rainbows. Add some great atmosphere (especially in the gray parts), great music sync, great designs, great gameplay, I mean what's not to like about this?
Also, glad it got reverted. I don't really care about the gp since I haven't played the buffdate outside of a couple practice runs, but given the buffs came at the cost of sync and the blue/yellow orb gp pattern in the first minicube, its the definitive worse version.
When you search up "nostalgic travel", be it in-game or on youtube, the first thing that pops up is a generic glow megacollab wearing 1.0 blocks as an unconvincing facade. A real shame, because there's a masterpiece a bit further below it.
Nostalgic travel by LP44 is honest to god the absolute best recreation of "old fashioned" GD out there, especially the main levels. All sorts of design principles you wouldn't even think about are applied here masterfully, to the point that even spider parts and trigger-based memory sections somehow manage to feel faithful. The way the player moves, the connected air deco, fakes and mazes often (but not always) having indicators, bright default background maintaining interest through interacting with transparent objects, the sync being focused mainly on specific sounds and transitions instead of every single note. All of this while having some great theming that matches the song just about perfectly.
I also want to specifically highlight that most of this level is in slow speed. Lonely and Dem Travel were both in slow speed due to the level length limitations in 2.0, and while most travel levels afterwards abandoned that practice entirely, this and Hypnotic Travel are still quite restrictive with it, both keeping any actual gameplay with it towards the end, for good reason. As it turns out, its easier to take in atmosphere when your gameplay is slow and simple, and when you do eventually speed up its an amazing release of tension. While this obviously doesn't have as big of a burst of energy as in Hypnotic it's still something I really appreciate. It's a subtler sort of signal that "this is the end", and it's short lived, only lasting for a part and a half before coming back around, like a sort of rest area you're free to fly around in before fighting a final boss.
Just wish the text was less... whatever this emotion is called. Cringe? That's the closest thing I can think of. Not as big of an issue as in Menace at least.
Have you ever tried watching a video of an XL level and you end up skipping around looking for an interesting part only for there to be nothing? No? Maybe that's just a me thing, very boring either way.
Also, this is a fully decorated generic glow megacollab disguising itself as "1.0 themed". I know what you are...
