The predrop and postrdrop need the drop to be inbetween them in order to work so well, but that drop is dumb because it contains a stupid UFO with moving objects that throw you around and it's stupid and dumb

Another one of those cult impossible levels that I just don't really get. Yeah it's creative but it never sticks with an idea for very long, unless it's the deco, in which case it sticks around for too long. It also doesn't have particularly good sync

When You See It

This level is strange, partially for the better, mostly for the worse. There's clearly a unique and creative vision in here, the backgrounds and designs are great, but it's so screwed up and poorly executed in ways that just baffle the mind to the point that I really can't support this level.

The sync is awful. Occasionally it'll have nice click sync, but that just makes the random extra jumps in the click sync parts extra painful to see. The non-click sync parts completely ignore the song and have zero visual sync to make up for it. AT MOST some pulses. If you told me this was built with the sound off I'd believe you.

Then you get stuff like a bar saying "TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN!" when you go near it, which like... ??? The text itself just sounds stupid, but even beyond that initial reaction, think about it for a moment. Why is that there? To let you know the big glowing laser can kill you? In an Extreme Demon you'll be practicing a lot beforehand?

And y'know what the worst part is? That's not even the worst piece of text in the level! No, at the 2nd drop, the climax of both the song and level, nearly 4 minutes in, the gameplay suddenly just stops. Giant glowing text saying "ALL WILL BE ONE" pops in and kills any excitement before just disappearing, and the gameplay continues on as if nothing happened. What's the point? Why would you ruin the most intense part of the level by adding in a cutscene segment instead of continuing the gameplay? It doesn't even pulse to the music! It's awful, and all of this is on top of the rest of the 2nd drop's issues. Janky attempt at making a vertical wave part, which sucks even given this was made in 2.1. The sync is nonexistent as always, but it hurts even worse with the last most intense note being unsynced. What was going on here

Fun gameplay, pretty good with both visual and click sync. I especially like the 1st ball and the last couple waves (wow, they made the transition between click on note and click/release on note feel natural?!?! Insane. Very few are capable of this). However the text can kinda ruin the mood even if it's limited to a couple places. I do like the structuring around the "me trying not to be accused of copy + paste be like" text though.

That is so much better than living, is it Knot?

"Setting aside my personal biases-" WRONG!!! INCORRECT ANSWER!!! NO OBJECTIVITY IN ART!!! AGAIN!!! THIS LEVEL SUCKS!!! Beyond that though...

Welcome to Deimos by Galaxxyss! We have:

  • Chokepoint timings and generic glow deco

  • Generic glow deco

  • Some actually cool gameplay and deco- oh my god why is it so buggy. It doesn't even sync right

  • Generic glow deco and I stopped learning this level at this point

  • Massive difficulty drop in the last third of the level

Your level being a joke does not make it immune from criticism btw

Why this level's gameplay is so widely beloved is beyond me. It's not the worst obviously, but there's stuff like the 15% miniship that feels really awkward to play and not in a good way, and frankly it just feels exhausting to play this level for long.

Interesting visual sync concept, but it ends at an awkward point in the song and I really can't support that. Not to mention the UFO randomly breaking sync at 37%, and the lack of any sort of progression. Horribly overrated.

2.1 level pretending to be a 2.0 level pretending to be a 1.9 level pretending to be a 1.7 level pretending to be a 1.5 level

Great theming. Love the use of foreground objects, really creates the feeling of being trapped inside... something. Supposedly this is a cave but I don't feel that super strongly, not an issue though. The word "labyrinth" comes to mind, but that still doesn't feel quite right. Anyway

It also feels very authentically old-style. Song screams "1.9 classic to be remembered for generations" even though it's only been used once before. And even with features from later updates and a few modern concepts this still follows a lot of old conventions regarding visual sync and gameplay super well, and they'd both be pretty good for their time too.

Speaking of gameplay, this level is pretty fun to do runs on, but holy hell is the balancing awful. First half is legit 6* and the second half is insane demon. Really sucks to play, not just from 0, but also having the knowledge that the difficult run you just pulled off would also have to be done from 0. Why is it like this

My other complaint is that the text seems

  1. Excessive, especially for the time this is mimicking

  2. Is often too high up for the camera to reach and you can literally only see the bottom portion of it outside the editor. Was this level playtested like at all? Both of my complaints are related to a lack of it

Amazingly done progression. It's about the furthest you can go with the concept of the gameplay progressing to more complexity, at least with this song. It's complete with the change into non-cube gamemodes at the climax much like Lonely Travel's change into color (though not quite as great obviously). I also like the visual sync in the pre-2x speed cube parts.
