A great gimmick level, stupendously long, and all cube, maximising simplicity but simulatniously maximising that feeling of adrenaline one can only imagine. Throughout every end there are snip-its of intensity and climactic jumps such as the one which involves landing on the edge of a spike after falling for roughly a second. Every end is much more than just a 1.0 style level, it has much more going for it than that. Unique and artistic, I like it.
Most of my review will mostly just be parroting what Mindcap said in his video about the level, so I would watch that before delving into any reviews on Limbo. The song is represented perfectly, and the key gimmick is one of the best gimmicks in all of GD, the amount of suspense built up whilst falling into the spikes at the end of the level is utterly unique and makes watching completions of Limbo interesting even for the viewer, as no key combination is the same for any given attempt. This level is popular for good reason in my view.
Beautiful atmospheric build up. The drop comes late but is climactic. Congregation is one of those levels that doesnt have much to say about it, but those few things make it stand out as a very good level. I really appreciate congregation for how it made me feel watching it for the first time.
It is an already existing level but invisible. There really isnt anything other than that to comment on regarding this level. In no way reflective of KrmaL's skill as a creator.
It does what it tries to well, to look presentable and to play well, however these are fairly meaningless in my eyes. It is just another level not largely different from the majority. It is only popular because it is the best entry extreme to complete first.
Black Blizzard is the pinnacle of atmospheric GD levels, the gameplay is awesomely experimental in nature, providing a unique experience, the way the level portrays climbing a mountain is masterful and evokes emotion in ways most levels cannot. A contendor for my favourite geometry dash level of all time. I wish we saw more levels like this in the modern day, as they are few and far between.
The level is fine, develops on Cataclysm well, and is very iconic. The levels value mostly comes from its former top one status, which isnt particularly important to me. Bloodbath embraces its difficulty, despite being rather easy now, and you can tell the level is themed around being difficult. The first ship part is clever in that it shows newer players that they are in no way skilled enough to complete it, Bloodbath is simply a classic, there isnt too much going for it in all honesty, other than somewhat okay atmosphere building and song representation.
By definition, slop. Purely made to show technical skill, which is in no way important to a levels value. It is a prime example of key dangling, a level attempting to appeal to the large majority of GD players, young children, and to get a lot of views on youtube. I feel absolutely nothing watching this level but, "this guy is good at using the editor". People that like this level look at art in a one dimensional way, which is expected considering they are mostly children. The idea explored in rage quit is unbelievably childish and is reflective of how lets play youtubers described GD as a rage game back in the mid 2010s.
Lit Fuse is some of, if not, the best song representation in the game, the slow build up makes for a climactic payoff which truly evokes emotion like a piece of art should. One of my favourite levels of all time. In the modern creating space, too many levels focus on how good they look, and their mass appeal, so Lit Fuse is utterly nostalgic and beautiful in a multitude of ways.
Storming Summit is unoriginal, and exists to copy someone elses art that the creator likes with no regard for personal transformation. It is just a level using stolen Celeste assets. This is definitley a level you beat if you want something to play, not something you want to appreciate as an art piece, as it is seemingly enjoyable.
